ownCloud and Deutsche Telekom launch a comprehensive open source offering for the public sector

Deutsche Telekom’s new offering provides German government agencies with both an integrated overall solution and the option of selecting individual modules from it. ownCloud expands the product offering with its content collaboration platform as a central partner of Deutsche Telekom’s large ecosystem, enabling government agencies to realize their collaboration and document management with secure software from the cloud.

Like all the other solutions in the Telekom package, ownCloud is based on open source technology. This approach is an important part of the strategy to strengthen data protection and digital sovereignty in Germany and the EU. Together with its partners, Deutsche Telekom is now providing federal, state and local governments with the tools they need to implement this strategy.

In order to make digital collaboration secure, T-Systems and grommunio have developed the software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution called OpenSource Collaboration: a package that combines office tools, cloud hosting, and end-to-end services.

The e-government sector in particular relies on GDPR-compliant, secure and trustworthy software solutions. All solutions in the Telekom portfolio not only originate from Europe, but open standards also increase digital sovereignty, facilitate data transfer and take into account all specifications for public administration. When it comes to implementation, customers can choose between Telekom’s own data centers and its platforms, such as the Open Telekom Cloud.
