Oracle DatabaseWorld at CloudWorld 2024 will open its doors soon, welcoming you to Las Vegas for the third time and again with a rich collection of great content. The Oracle Globally Distributed Database product management team has prepared a set of complementary learning sessions (45-minute sessions with an “LRNxxxx” designation), interactive Hands-on-Lab (HOL with an “HOLxxxx” designation), theater session (THR with “THRxxxx” designation) and Oracle Demos which can all be found in the CloudWorld Session Catalog.

Please find below our recommendations for Globally Distributed Database and True Cache sessions that you should not miss when attending DatabaseWorld at CloudWorld.

Build Global-Scale Applications Using Globally Distributed Autonomous Databases [LRN1183]

Data and transaction volume in enterprises is exploding, and applications are often required to be available 24/7 and comply with data sovereignty regulations. As a result, enterprise applications are adopting design patterns like the distributed databases used by internet-scale applications. Hear how customers are building global-scale applications that can scale to millions of transactions per second with petabytes of data, eliminate downtime, and comply with data sovereignty regulations. Discover how Oracle Globally Distributed Autonomous Database achieves all of this seamlessly while rendering strong data consistency, the full power of SQL, and support for structured and unstructured data and generative AI.

Accelerate Your Applications with True Cache [LRN1192]

Many applications try to improve performance by adding a caching tier in front of a database. Unfortunately, these caches are neither automatic nor transparent. Applications must load the data in the cache and update it when the source data changes. This burdens the app developer and makes it nearly impossible to maintain data inconsistency. In this session, we’ll explain how Oracle True Cache, an in-memory SQL and object cache, addresses the shortcomings of conventional caches. True Cache does this by automatically caching frequently used data and maintaining consistency as the source data in the backend database changes. This simplifies the app and ensures that you don’t get wrong data.

Improve Application Performance with Oracle True Cache [HOL2994]

Oracle True Cache is an in-memory, consistent, and automatically managed SQL and key-value cache for Oracle Database—improving application response time while reducing the load on the database. Automatic cache management and consistency simplify application development, reducing development effort and cost. Learn how to use True Cache to improve scalability by offloading queries and reducing the number of requests and connections to the primary database.

Central Bank Digital Currency with Oracle Database 23ai [THR3352]

Central banks worldwide are considering introducing digital currency—promising to reduce costs, easily distribute and track money, be more secure, and address fraud and crime. The core technology involves issuing and transferring tamper-proof tokens across parties with verifiable records. But to replace paper currency, digital currencies must scale to millions of transactions per second, honor data sovereignty, provide zero downtime, and have built-in fraud detection. We show how to implement this infrastructure by using blockchain tables that are cryptographically chained and verifiable and by using Oracle Globally Distributed Database for hyperscale, compliance with data sovereignty, and built-in AI for fraud detection.

Data Sovereignty Using Oracle Globally Distributed Database [LRN3351]

Companies around the world are scrambling to address data sovereignty and data residency regulations. For example, India requires that financial transactions data between Indian entities be stored in India. Plus, there are similar requirements in countries such as China, Brazil, and Australia. Learn how Oracle Globally Distributed Database can help you surf the wave of regulations so your company can continue to thrive and conduct business in those countries.

9:00 AM

Use Raft Replication with Distributed Database for Resilient Never-Down Apps [HOL2995]

Oracle Database 23ai supports a new Raft Replication mechanism that enables an active-active-active symmetric architecture using the Raft quorum-based consensus protocol. This configuration provides automatic sub-3-second application failover with zero data loss, with nodes deployed across data centers and network latency in the tens of milliseconds. Learn more about configuring Raft replication and lifecycle operations.
